Plays in a Peace Process 8.95

Dave Duggan

Plays in a Peace Process brings together dramatic writing by Dave Duggan in response to the peace process in Ireland between 1994 and 2007. The clashing of cultures, the pressure on policing in a society coming out of conflict, the relationship between victims and perpetrators in political violence, the search for truth in The Saville Inquiry, the challenge of truth recovery generally and the impact of globalisation on industry are dramatised. All these plays were professionally produced and toured to venues across Ireland and to Liverpool, Edinburgh and New York. An adaptation of one of them was produced in Afghanistan.

Waiting . . . may be a very short piece, but it has deep resonances that remain in the mind long after it finishes. This is the kind of play that makes people think and its strongest suit is in showing how each of the protagonists can help each other to a deeper understanding of themselves, their beliefs and their lives.
The British Theatre Guide 2004, at The Edinburgh Fringe

Plays in a Peace Process will interest theatre lovers, people involved in peace building and conflict resolution, writers, actors and directors, academics, practitioners and the general public.
